Laser Eye Surgery in Daytona Beach
June 26, 2022. Â Orest Krajnyk, MD and Board Certified Ophthalmologist traveled all the way to London to get LASIK surgery by the world renowned surgeon Dr. Dan Reinstein (pictured to the right of Dr. Krajnyk) at the London Vision Clinic. Now you might be asking, why is an eye doctor now just getting the surgery done? The answer can be a little complicated but let us try and explain.Â
Would you purchase a car from a Toyota salesperson who drives a Nissan? Would you eat at a restaurant where the chef doesn’t eat the restaurant’s food? There’s a common expression called “eating your own food,” meaning that you should use your own product or service. After all, if you don’t believe in what you’re selling, why should anyone else?
Using your own product or service to replicate the customer experience and “eating your own cooking” can be a valuable exercise. You will become your own subject matter expert concerning all of its features and functionality, which is helpful to be an effective product manager, salesperson, or in this case – doctor. This can often be a good way to gain personal insight into potential pain points or enhancements.
That said, there are times when your own personal experience or perspective might be irrelevant or detrimental to the product. In the case of ophthalmologists getting Laser Eye Surgery in Daytona Beach one very  important question needs to be asked just like any other candiate for the surgery:
- Is the patient in question a good candidate for laser eye surgery like LASIK? Â People with mild nearsightedness tend to have the most success with refractive surgery. People with a high degree of nearsightedness or farsightedness along with astigmatism have less-predictable results.
Generally speaking a good candidate for LASIK is anyone  21 years and older, have good eye and general health, with stable prescriptions (for at least one year). As a refractive surgeon, Dr. Krajnyk has had the honor of providing people with vision correction procedures from almost every background and profession. He’s helped teachers, firefighters, fishermen, musicians, attorneys, accountants, engineers, nurses, pilots, surfers, divers, mountain climbers, radiologists, professional athletes – the list goes on and on.Â
In a recent interview Dr. Krajnyk stated, “You keep on seeing incredible, life-changing result after incredible, life-changing result and eventually you want it for yourself too. And all your friends and family”. He continues, ” when I really thought about it, I had all the issues that many of my patients had such as discomfort and inconvience dealing with contacts and glasses. The only regret is that I didn’t do it ten years earlier”.Â
